Log Book & General Car Servicing

Protect Your Warranty. Protect Your Vehicle.

Whether you drive a brand-new car or an older family vehicle, regular servicing is one of the smartest investments you can make. At Mototech Automotive, we provide professional Log Book Servicing and General Car Servicing for drivers throughout Enoggera, helping keep vehicles safe, reliable and performing as the manufacturer intended.

Our qualified technicians service virtually all makes and models, including Holden, Ford, Mazda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Honda, BMW, Audi and many more.

Your New Car Warranty Doesn't Depend on the Dealership

Many motorists still believe they must return to the selling dealership for every scheduled service to keep their new car warranty valid. Fortunately, that's a common myth.

As long as your vehicle is serviced by qualified technicians who follow the manufacturer's servicing requirements and use appropriate parts and lubricants, your statutory new car warranty remains protected under Australian Consumer Law.

That means you can enjoy dealership-quality servicing with the personalised service and convenience of your trusted local workshop.

What Is a Log Book Service?

Every new vehicle is supplied with a manufacturer's service schedule (commonly called the Log Book). Rather than simply changing the engine oil, each scheduled service includes a detailed list of inspections, adjustments and replacement items based on your vehicle's age, time and kilometres travelled.

A Log Book Service may include:

  • Engine oil and filter replacement
  • Inspection of brakes and brake fluid
  • Tyre condition, wear and pressures
  • Steering and suspension checks
  • Cooling system inspection
  • Battery testing
  • Drive belt and hose inspections
  • Electronic diagnostic scan (where applicable)
  • Replacement of manufacturer-specified service items

Many modern vehicles also have an electronic service history, so a physical log book isn't always required. Mototech Automotive follows the manufacturer's servicing specifications and records the work completed, helping maintain your vehicle's service history and resale value.

General Car Servicing for Older Vehicles

Once your vehicle is outside its manufacturer's scheduled servicing period, regular General Car Servicing remains just as important.

A routine service allows our technicians to monitor the overall condition of your vehicle, identify developing problems early and recommend repairs before they become expensive breakdowns.

Rather than waiting for something to fail, regular servicing helps keep your vehicle dependable while often reducing long-term repair costs.

Delaying a Service Can Become an Expensive Mistake

Many vehicle problems develop gradually with very few warning signs.

Engine oil slowly loses its protective qualities as it ages. If left too long, it becomes contaminated with combustion by-products, moisture and microscopic metal particles. Eventually the oil can thicken into sludge, restricting oil flow and accelerating internal engine wear.

At the same time, other components continue to wear:

  • Brake pads become thinner until they begin damaging the brake discs.
  • Small coolant or oil leaks become larger and can lead to overheating.
  • Uneven tyre wear shortens tyre life and reduces wet weather grip.
  • Suspension bushes and shock absorbers wear, affecting handling and braking performance.
  • Belts, hoses and filters continue to deteriorate with age.

Many of these issues are inexpensive to correct when detected early but significantly more costly if ignored.

A service delayed by a few months can sometimes lead to repairs costing thousands of dollars.

This Is An Example Of What Can Happen ...

A customer booked their vehicle in for what they thought was "just an overdue service."

During the inspection, our technicians discovered the engine oil had become heavily contaminated and had started forming sludge inside the engine. Fortunately, it was identified before oil starvation caused internal engine damage. Along with replacing the oil and filter, we also found brake pads close to their wear limit and a small coolant leak beginning around a hose connection.

Addressing these issues during the service prevented a much larger repair bill and helped keep the vehicle safe and reliable.

Why Regular Servicing Matters

Routine servicing helps:

  • Maintain your new car warranty (where applicable)
  • Improve reliability
  • Reduce the likelihood of unexpected breakdowns
  • Detect small problems before they become major repairs
  • Improve fuel efficiency
  • Extend engine and component life
  • Maintain resale value with a documented service history

Regular servicing isn't just about changing the oil—it's about preventing expensive surprises before they happen.
